About

I am an AI researcher working on symbolic and hybrid approaches to human-level and human-centered AI, with applications in the digital transformation of law and finance. My expertise lies in knowledge representation and reasoning, formal and computational argumentation, non-monotonic and deontic reasoning, AI & law, trustworthy AI, and machine ethics.

I am currently at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), where I am a member of the Trustworthy AI Group (TAI). I also co-coordinate two joint initiatives: the Zhejiang University – University of Luxembourg Joint Lab on Advanced Intelligent Systems and REasoning (ZLAIRE) and the TAI–CLAiM–ICR collaboration, which brings together TAI, Computational Law and Machine Ethics (CLAiM), and the Individual and Collective Reasoning Group (ICR).

Teaching Experience and Vision

I enjoy both research-based teaching and foundational teaching. My research-based teaching focuses on advanced topics in knowledge representation and reasoning, including logic and formal argumentation in AI. At the same time, I contribute to foundational computer science education by coordinating textbook development and teaching core subjects such as discrete mathematics, propositional logic, and first-order logic. In response to the growing and sometimes uncritical use of generative AI in the classroom, my teaching aims to help students use AI systems critically rather than passively: students are encouraged to reconstruct arguments, question assumptions, compare human and machine reasoning, and justify their own conclusions. To support active engagement, I use interactive tools such as Wooclap for live questions, polls, and feedback, together with project-based assignments that connect formal concepts to current AI research and practice.
